The Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, has warned residents against working against the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Shekwolo made the remarks in a video circulating on social media, where he said he would oppose any attempt by residents in the area council to campaign or work against the APC or President Bola Tinubu’s bid for another term in office.
The council chairman linked his position to what he described as developmental projects being carried out by the Tinubu administration and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in the area.
Shekwolo said he would use the authority of his office to resist opposition to the ruling party during the 2027 election season.
His comments have drawn attention because political office holders are expected to allow residents to freely choose their preferred candidates and political parties during elections.
The development also comes as political parties and their supporters begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the APC seeking to retain control at the federal level.
