Manchester United defender, Lisandro Martinez, has broken an unwanted own-goal record for the club in the Premier League.
Martinez scored against his side during the Week 5 fixture against Fulham after Nigerian defender, Calvin Bassey, had shot on goal which has somehow saved by Manchester United goalkeeper, Senne Lammens, but the ball was inadvertently dinked into the net by the Argentine player against his club to make it 1-0 for the London side after 63 minutes played.
Following the incident which happened at Craven Cottage on Sunday, Martinez has now scored three own goals in the Premier League with no other player scoring more in the club’s history.
Matteus Cunnah however saved the South American’s blushes after leveling up on the even of 90 minute to help the Mancunian club finish the game 1-1.
The striker made the Cottagers pay for several missed chances after his strike took a deflection and nestled in to finish the game on even terms.
The draw has piled more pressure on United coach, Michael Carrick, whose side are 12th, winning one, drawn two as well two losses in the opening five games in the campaign ahead of the international break.
The English tactician would be hoping to make amends in the league standings when his team face another London opposition, Tottenham Hotspur, on Saturday, October 10, at Old Trafford.
Fulham, in 19th position, play Ipswich Town away earlier in the day.
