The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has terminated the appointment of one of its staff members over the extortion of unsuspecting candidates.
The Board disclosed the development in its weekly bulletin on Monday, describing the action as part of its efforts to strengthen integrity and accountability within Nigeria’s admission and examination system.
JAMB said its crackdown on fraudulent practices was not limited to individuals operating outside the organisation, stressing that staff members found abusing their positions would also face disciplinary action.
According to the Board, the affected staff member was removed from service after being found involved in the extortion of candidates.
JAMB also warned its workforce against conduct capable of undermining the credibility of its operations or exploiting candidates and members of the public.
The Board said such actions would attract serious sanctions in line with its established rules and regulations.

The Board stressed that its internal disciplinary measures were intended to reinforce its zero-tolerance position on corruption and other forms of misconduct.
JAMB further warned that no staff member would be protected because of their position if they abused the trust placed in them by candidates or members of the public.
It said employees whose actions compromise the integrity of the Board’s operations would face appropriate sanctions under the applicable rules.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a professional and accountable workforce, noting that efforts to protect the integrity of the admission and examination system must also address misconduct within the organisation.
