The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a controlled process allowing candidates who have genuinely lost access to their registered phone numbers or email addresses to update their details.
JAMB announced the change on Monday, September 21, 2026, saying the service had commenced and would be available only through designated JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres and State Offices where applicable.
The board said the option was specifically for candidates who can demonstrate that they no longer have access to the GSM number or email address originally registered with JAMB.
Candidates seeking the service will be required to undergo identity and biometric verification before their details can be changed.
“Please note: The service can be accessed only once and is subject to strict identity and biometric verification,” JAMB said.
The board also warned candidates against using unauthorised agents or unofficial channels to make changes to their registered information.
“For your security, use only designated JAMB centres and avoid unauthorised persons or channels,” the board advised.
Under the revised arrangement, eligible candidates can request an update to their registered GSM number, email address or both.
However, JAMB stressed that each candidate can access the service only once and must successfully complete the required identity and biometric checks.
The board said the initiative is part of its JCARE and JAMB Updates efforts aimed at providing support and updates to candidates.
Candidates who have lost access to their registered contact details are therefore advised to visit only designated JAMB centres when seeking to use the service.
