Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, Wednesday defended his position against a motion to summon President Bola Tinubu over delays in release of funds for budget implementation by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The action followed deliberation on a motion of urgent national importance brought by Alex Mascot Ikwechegh.
He had submitted a copy of the motion containing five prayers to the Speaker as required by House’s Standing Rules, but in presenting the motion, he added an additional prayer to the effect that the president be invited to explain to Nigerians the delay.
He was however shouted down by some members as Abbas also insisted that the original motion had no prayer seeking the invitation of the president.
