President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that the economic and governance reforms introduced by his administration are intended to improve the lives of citizens across the country over time.
The President gave the assurance during the inauguration of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Abuja on Thursday. He was represented at the event by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
According to Tinubu, the difficult policy decisions taken since he assumed office are necessary steps toward rebuilding the economy and creating sustainable opportunities for future generations.
Administration defends key policy decisions
Since taking office on May 29, 2023, the Tinubu administration has rolled out major economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.
The policies have generated mixed reactions, with many Nigerians expressing concerns over the rising cost of living. However, the government has consistently argued that the reforms are essential for long-term economic stability.
Tinubu reiterated that meaningful national development often requires difficult decisions and temporary sacrifices.
‘Every Nigerian will feel the impact’
Addressing supporters through his representative, the President said all arms of government are working together to ensure the reforms translate into tangible improvements for citizens.
He stressed that the goal of the administration is to build a stronger economy capable of delivering prosperity, dignity and greater opportunities for Nigerians.
Tinubu also urged members of the newly inaugurated political movement to engage with citizens respectfully, listen to their concerns and strengthen public confidence in democratic governance.
Tinubu calls for unity above politics
The President said political competition should never overshadow the country’s collective interest, insisting that Nigeria must always come first regardless of election outcomes.
He encouraged political actors to promote unity, patriotism and service, adding that constructive engagement with citizens remains vital to strengthening democracy and national development.
According to him, every interaction with Nigerians should reinforce hope, trust and confidence in the country’s future.
