Four adults and a 15-year-old girl have been charged in connection with the death of a newborn baby in Sheffield, United Kingdom.
Police discovered the baby girl at a property on Holywell Heights in the Wincobank area on Sunday morning after officers were called to the address over concerns about her safety.
According to police, two men aged 19 and 38 and two women aged 20 and 37 have each been charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice.
The charges of perverting the course of justice relate to allegations that steps were taken to conceal the death of the infant.
The 15-year-old girl has separately been charged with perverting the course of justice. She cannot be identified under UK law because of her age.
Suspects remanded in custody
Police said all five suspects have been remanded in custody and are expected to appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.
Those charged have been identified as Peter Horvath, 19, of Holywell Heights; Andrea Skopova, 20, formerly of Robey Street; Nina Horvathova, 37, of Holywell Heights; and Peter Horvath, 38, also of Holywell Heights.
The fifth suspect is the 15-year-old girl, whose identity remains protected.
The charges are allegations at this stage, and the suspects are yet to face the full legal process.
Investigation continues
Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the newborn’s death.
Police have not disclosed further details about how the baby died or the events leading up to the discovery at the Sheffield property.
The suspects’ upcoming court appearance is expected to mark the next stage of the case as investigators work to establish what happened.
