A woman identified as Innocent Serah has allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death at Umuokereke Ngwa in the Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
Although the circumstances surrounding the incident and what may have triggered the attack remain unclear, it was learnt that Nwaọjị was allegedly stabbed while he was asleep.
A community member, who confirmed the incident to journalists on Monday, said the incident occurred on August 8. According to the resident, the couple had been married for barely eight months.
The source said the couple got married in December 2025 and that there had been no known disagreement between them before the incident.
“We are not aware of any disagreement between the couple before the incident. The woman has been arrested and is currently in police custody, while the deceased’s body has been deposited at a morgue,” the resident said.
Meanwhile, the Abia State Police Command is yet to issue a statement on the incident.
