Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said the number of state governors supporting a candidate will not determine who wins the 2027 presidential election.
Obi made the statement during an interview on Noire TV, where he argued that political support from governors is not the only factor that influences electoral success.
The former Anambra State governor said his performance in the previous presidential election showed that candidates can gain significant support without backing from state leaders.
Obi recalls 2023 election performance
Obi stated that he did not have support from any governor during the last election but was still able to win several states.
He claimed that some results from the election were affected by irregularities, adding that his campaign strength came from support among voters
