Brazil forward Neymar has named the country he would like to face in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, leaving out defending champions Argentina and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.
The Santos attacker chose Spain as Brazil’s preferred opponent if they reach the tournament’s final stage.
Neymar made the comment during a conversation on Puma Football’s social media platform when he was asked about his ideal World Cup final.
“Spain. Brazil-Spain,” Neymar said.
Brazil star returns to World Cup squad
Neymar was included in Brazil’s squad for the tournament after missing international action for more than two years because of an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered in 2023.
However, the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain forward has not featured in Brazil’s opening matches due to another injury setback.
He recently returned to training and could make his appearance in Brazil’s upcoming group match against Scotland.
Messi and Ronaldo continue World Cup campaigns
While Neymar selected Spain as his preferred final opponent, Argentina and Portugal remain among the teams attracting attention at the tournament.
Lionel Messi has enjoyed a strong start to the competition, scoring multiple goals for Argentina and helping his country secure progress from the group stage.
Portugal, meanwhile, are still searching for their best form, with Cristiano Ronaldo yet to make his mark on the scoresheet at the tournament.
