SOME Football fans in Aba have urged Super Falcons to up their games against the Lionesses of Cameroon in the quarter final of the ongoing Women Africa”s Football Cup of Nation (WAFCON).
A cross-section of the fans who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, said the Super Falcons needed to play more as a team to defeat Cameroon.
NAN recalled that the Nigeria Women national team dispatched Egypt 6-2 to reach the quarter finals of the competition on goal difference having tied on six point with Zambia and Malawi.
Mrs Amarachi Uguru hailed the players for booking their place in the knockout stage and urged them to give more and possibly defend the title.
She sair that the gap between the Falcons and other teams were now slim but the players can only conquer with unity and understanding.
“We have won this trophy 10 times and as Oliver twist, I need more and want the Falcons to keep writing Nigeria’s name in Gold,” she said.
Another football enthusiast, Miss Angela Okete, a student said she was overwhelmed with joy when the Super Falcons beat Egypt to progress to the next round.
“The Nigerian women have experience players to overcome Cameroon but our players need to bring out the physical aspect of their game.
“The players also need to be focused for the 90 minutes duration of the game and to avoid unnecessary errors at this stage,” Okete said.
Chidera Mba, a grassroot footballer urged the team to go for early goals so that they can punish the Cameroonians.
“Nigerians need the trophy and that is why we have been supporting the Falcons with prayers for them to succeed,” she said.
Another football fan, Miss Chimobi Madukwe called on the super falcons technical crew to field experienced players who can match the Cameroonian women strength to strength. (NAN)
