Mexican social media influencer César Gastélum was shot dead while livestreaming on TikTok outside a fast-food restaurant in Culiacán, authorities have confirmed.
Gastélum, who was known for sharing comedy content on the platform, was broadcasting live alongside two friends when two men reportedly arrived at the scene on a motorcycle.
According to local reports, one of the suspects allegedly approached the influencer and shot him at close range before fleeing with the accomplice.
Police initially believed the victim was a delivery rider because he and his companions were wearing bright yellow jackets and carrying delivery bags. Authorities later confirmed that the deceased was César Gastélum.
Investigators said no arrests have been made in connection with the killing.
Law enforcement officials are examining cartridge casings recovered from the scene and reviewing CCTV footage as part of efforts to identify those responsible.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the attack, and it remains unclear whether Gastélum had received any threats before the incident.
The killing is the latest in a string of attacks involving social media personalities in Mexico.
In May 2025, beauty influencer Valeria Márquez, 23, was also shot dead while livestreaming on TikTok from a beauty salon in Zapopan.
Another content creator, Leobardo “El Gordo Peruci” Aispuro, was killed in Culiacán in December 2024, highlighting growing concerns over the safety of online personalities in the country.
Police said investigations into Gastélum’s death are ongoing.
