SOME semi finalists have emerged at the ongoing 2026 Louis Edem West Africa Basketball Championship with visitors, Ghana Braves making it to the last four.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ghana Braves on Thursday started the day with 10 points defeat of Bayelsa Whales, beating the Nigeria side 47-37.
Their hard fought victory propelled them to this year’s semifinal stage and a chance for a medal to take back home.
Also qualifying to the semifinal is Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) who defeated another Lagos-based side, Dolphins 58-30.
The victory secured a final four position in the tournament while Victoria Queens floured Sho’s Foundation 72-32.
The final quarterfinal game saw First Bank emerging winners against Showtyme, thrashing their opponent 74-37 to secure a final four spot as well.
The semifinal games would see Ghana Braves facing First Bank with the game starting by 12 pm at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere.
The other second semifinal is between MFM and Victoria Queens with the tipoff at 2.00.p.m.
Speaking with NAN, the sponsor of the competition, Louis Edem, said he would continue to give his best to the development of basketball in Nigeria.
According to him, the West Africa Basketball Championship, is an annual international tournament which continues to bring together elite clubs and players from across the region.
“We have so many youths hoping to make headways in basketball and we as an organisation will continue to put a lot of efforts in bringing their dreams to realisation.
“People are looking forward to an interesting semi final with the best teams expected to make the final on Saturday.
“This year’s edition has been filled with alot of top notch matches and the finest displays from players, as expected from the competition,”Edem said.(NAN)
