Three residents were killed along the Gyambwas-Kikyau road in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State after they were allegedly ambushed by suspected herders.
The victims were identified as Gambo Fumyil, Zugumna Bamaiyi and Samson Dapo.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 8:25pm yesterday, shortly after the victims passed through an area where troops were enforcing a curfew.
According to sources, preliminary findings indicated that the victims had passed through the military checkpoint in Gyambwas before continuing towards Kikyau, where they were intercepted along the route.
Troops of Sector 8, Sub-Sector 81, Gyambwas, moved to the area after receiving information about the incident and recovered the bodies of the three residents.
The military has since launched a manhunt for the suspected perpetrators and intensified patrols across surrounding communities to prevent further violence.
The killings occurred amid heightened security operations in parts of Mangu following recent security concerns.
Military authorities are expected to sustain the curfew and other security measures as efforts continue to identify those responsible for the attack.
