Nigerian singer Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red, has expressed confidence that Nigeria would undergo major changes if his father, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, eventually becomes President.
B-Red made the remark during a 2023 appearance on the Echoroom podcast, a clip of which resurfaced on social media on Tuesday.
The renewed attention to the interview comes shortly after Adeleke secured a second term as Osun State governor in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The Accord Party candidate polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who recorded 444,815 votes.
During the old interview, B-Red was asked whether he believed his father could one day seek the presidency.
The singer said he would rather his father did not pursue the position because of the pressure and possible consequences it could bring to the family.
B-Red, however, said he believed his father had the character to make a positive difference if he eventually occupied the nation’s highest political office.
He described Adeleke as a kind-hearted person and expressed the belief that his father would prioritise improving the lives of Nigerians.
“But I know my dad, he has such a good heart, but if he does become the president, this country go change oh,” he said.
The singer also argued that his father would not approach the presidency primarily as an opportunity to accumulate wealth.
According to B-Red, Adeleke would instead focus on addressing the needs of Nigerians because the family was already financially comfortable.
“You know, I’ve been rich for a long time, so we’re not coming here to steal money, bro. I’m coming here to help people,” he said.
B-Red’s comments were made before his father’s latest victory in Osun, but the resurfaced interview has attracted renewed interest amid speculation about Adeleke’s political future.
