A United States-based lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has accused President Bola Tinubu of posing a threat to Nigeria’s stability and American interests, while praising a US lawmaker for raising concerns about the country’s security situation.
The firm made the remarks in a statement posted on its official X account following comments reportedly made by US Congressman John James during proceedings in the United States Congress.
According to the lobbying firm, the congressman highlighted the security challenges facing Nigeria, including killings attributed to terrorist groups, and called attention to the situation during his address.
The statement thanked the lawmaker for speaking on the issue, adding that more members of the US Congress were beginning to scrutinise developments under the Tinubu administration.

In its statement, the firm alleged that the Nigerian government was involved in corruption, interference with the judiciary, disregard for the rule of law and other actions it claimed could undermine democratic opposition ahead of the country’s next presidential election.
The lobbying firm also dismissed suggestions that President Tinubu’s relationship with the administration of US President Donald Trump would shield his government from international criticism.
It argued that it would continue drawing attention to what it described as concerns about governance and democracy in Nigeria.
The allegations remain claims made by the lobbying firm. As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency had not issued any public response to the latest statement.
The development comes amid increasing political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections, with both domestic and international observers closely monitoring Nigeria’s political and security landscape.
