Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has remained among the world’s highest-valued footballers despite Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Galatasaray forward continues to command a market value of €75 million, according to the latest player valuation update released by Transfermarkt after the World Cup.
The updated rankings reflect players’ performances over the past season and, where applicable, their displays at the tournament. Although Osimhen did not feature at the World Cup, his valuation remained unchanged, highlighting his consistency at club level.
The Nigerian international enjoyed another outstanding campaign with Turkish champions Galatasaray, playing a crucial role in the club’s recent domestic success.
DailyInsightNG reports that Osimhen has registered 59 goals and 16 assists in 74 appearances across all competitions since joining the Istanbul-based side, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most reliable goalscorers.
However, his impressive club form was not enough to help Nigeria reach the World Cup. The Super Eagles were eliminated by the Democratic Republic of Congo in the African play-offs, with Osimhen missing part of the decisive encounter through injury before DR Congo advanced via a penalty shootout.
Despite missing football’s biggest tournament, the 27-year-old remains the only player currently featuring in the Turkish Super Lig to appear among the world’s most valuable footballers.
Transfermarkt’s latest rankings are led by Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, whose market value increased by €20 million to €220 million, making him the world’s most valuable player.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe, Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham complete the top five.
For Osimhen, retaining his valuation reinforces his standing among world football’s elite and reflects the impact he continues to make at club level despite Nigeria’s absence from the 2026 World Cup.
