The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj.- Gen Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, has urged graduating students of Command Day Secondary School, Ikeja, to make responsible decisions that will positively shape their future choices and contribute to national development.
Speaking during the school’s 2025/2026 Valedictory Service and Prize-Giving Ceremony held at TA Lagbaja Cantonment, Ikeja, Thursday, Maj.- Gen Babalola advised the graduating SS3 students to embrace wisdom, integrity and self-discipline as they prepare for higher education and adulthood.
Represented by the Commander, 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig.- Gen A.O. Owolabi, the GOC, while speaking on the theme, “Making Responsible Choices in a Changing World,” said the decisions young people make today would determine the quality of their future and their impact on society.
He encouraged the graduates to uphold the core values of discipline, patriotism, integrity and responsible leadership imbibed through the command schools system, adding that lasting success is built on perseverance, good character and continuous self-improvement. He also congratulated the award recipients for their outstanding performances and urged other students to remain committed to excellence.
Earlier, the school commandant, Lieutenant Colonel A.O. Akindele, described the 2025/2026 academic session as a remarkable one, citing the school’s impressive achievements in academics, sports and leadership development.
He stated that the school emerged Overall Best at the 2026 81 Division Inter-Command Secondary Schools Sports Competition and expressed appreciation to the General Officer Commanding, the Corps Commander Education, Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed, education authorities, the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), parents and other stakeholders for their unwavering support towards the growth of the institution.
