Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has warned organisers of South African singer Tyla’s planned concert in Lagos to cancel the event, citing concerns over reported xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
In a video shared on his official Facebook page, the activist said he would oppose the concert if it goes ahead, arguing that it would be inappropriate for the singer to perform in Nigeria while many Nigerians continue to raise concerns about their treatment in South Africa.
VDM linked his opposition to the case involving Chidinma Adetshina, who has faced legal proceedings in South Africa over her citizenship status, saying the situation has heightened concerns among many Nigerians.
According to the activist, allowing the concert to proceed would send the wrong message amid ongoing public discussions about the treatment of Nigerians living in South Africa.
“There will be no Tyla concert in Nigeria. It is not happening,” VDM said in the video.
He also warned concert promoters that he and others would protest at the venue if the event is not cancelled.
The comments come after Tyla’s management unveiled her world tour schedule, which includes a performance in Lagos on December 22, 2026.

As of the time of filing this report, Tyla, her management team and the event organisers have not publicly responded to VDM’s remarks.
The planned Lagos concert remains on the singer’s published tour schedule.
