Gibson Custom proudly launches the Gibson Custom Acoustic Anniversary Limited Edition Collection, a breathtaking, five-model collection celebrating 100 years of Gibson flat-top craftsmanship with the J-45™, Hummingbird™, SJ-200™, Dove™, and Advanced Jumbo Anniversary Limited Editions in striking Cremona Burst finish, now available worldwide at authorized Gibson dealers and on Gibson.com.
Handcrafted by the expert artisans of Gibson Custom in Bozeman, Montana, the Anniversary Limited Edition Collection honors a century of innovation, artistry, and unmistakable Gibson acoustic tone. Each model is limited to only 100 guitars worldwide, making this rare commemorative collection an extraordinary offering for players, collectors, and Gibson enthusiasts alike. Designed as heirloom instruments, these guitars celebrate the enduring legacy of Gibson flat-tops, from front porches and studios to the world’s biggest stages.
“For 100 years, Gibson flat-top acoustics have helped shape the sound of modern music, becoming synonymous with great songwriting and unforgettable performances,” said Robi Johns, Senior Product Development Manager, Gibson Acoustic. “With the Gibson Custom Acoustic Anniversary Collection, we’re honoring five of the most iconic models in our history through the craftsmanship, tone, and visual elegance that have defined Gibson acoustics for generations. These limited-edition instruments celebrate not only our legacy, but also the artists, songwriters, and players around the world who continue to inspire it every day.”
At the heart of the collection is a shared visual and tonal language that connects the five legendary models. Each guitar features a select bearclaw Sitka spruce top, chosen for its dramatic natural figuring and rich acoustic response. These premium tops deliver the clarity, warmth, projection, and dynamic character players expect from a Gibson Custom acoustic, while giving every instrument a distinct one-of-a-kind appearance.
The collection’s Cremona Burst gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish draws inspiration from the earliest vintage Gibson flat-top guitars, bringing a historic elegance to each model while highlighting the depth and movement of the bearclaw spruce. Elegant abalone rosettes and multi-ply top binding accented with abalone add refined detail throughout the collection, creating a cohesive anniversary aesthetic that feels both timeless and elevated.
Each Anniversary Limited Edition model is built with premium materials and traditional Gibson Custom craftsmanship. Across the collection, players will find rosewood fretboards, bone nuts and saddles, gold-plated Grover tuning machines, and carefully selected tonewoods matched to each model’s historic voice. The J-45 and Hummingbird feature mahogany back and sides, the SJ-200 and Dove showcase figured maple back and sides, and the Advanced Jumbo pairs rosewood back and sides with its select bear claw Sitka spruce top.
For modern performance needs, every guitar in the Anniversary Limited Edition Collection comes equipped with L.R. Baggs VTC electronics, including an under-saddle piezo pickup and active preamp. Discreet soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls give players easy access to stage-ready sound while preserving the clean, vintage-inspired appearance of each instrument.
The five models in the collection represent some of the most beloved chapters in Gibson acoustic history. The J-45, known as “The Workhorse,” remains Gibson’s best-selling acoustic guitar of all time and is celebrated for its warm, balanced tone and remarkable versatility. The Hummingbird, Gibson’s first square-shoulder dreadnought, has become one of the most recognizable acoustic guitars ever made. The SJ-200, long known as the “King of the Flat-Tops,” brings unmistakable jumbo power and elegance. The Dove stands apart with its maple body construction, long scale length, and iconic visual identity. The Advanced Jumbo, originally introduced in the 1930s, is revered for its projection, low-end depth, and rare vintage legacy.
Every guitar in the Gibson Custom Acoustic Anniversary Limited Edition Collection ships in a Gibson Custom hardshell case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity, underscoring the collectability and significance of these commemorative instruments. With only 100 examples of each model available worldwide, this special release offers a rare opportunity to own a piece of Gibson flat-top history.
