The Enugu State Government has approved the recruitment of more than 6,500 qualified teachers, technical personnel and administrative staff into public primary and secondary schools, with a major focus on staffing the state’s 267 Smart Green Schools.
Governor Peter Mbah approved the recruitment as part of his administration’s ongoing education reform agenda aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning across the state. The exercise is expected to strengthen manpower in the education sector and provide employment opportunities for qualified Nigerians seeking careers in public service.
The government said the recruitment would ensure that the Smart Green Schools are equipped with competent professionals capable of delivering quality education while supporting the state’s vision of building a technology-driven learning environment.
Vacancies available across schools
According to the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), the recruitment exercise covers academic, technical and administrative positions in public primary and secondary schools throughout the state.
The government explained that successful candidates would be deployed to schools based on available vacancies and operational requirements, particularly within the Smart Green Schools established to improve educational standards.
Officials noted that the recruitment forms part of broader efforts to enhance access to quality education while providing students with the knowledge and skills required in a modern learning environment.

Applicants seeking teaching positions are required to possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.), a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant discipline with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), or a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in the relevant subject area.
The government also announced vacancies for candidates with Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and SSCE/WASSCE qualifications for suitable technical and administrative positions.
In addition, applicants for teaching positions must provide evidence of registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) or proof that the registration process is ongoing.
Candidates applying with Degree or HND qualifications must also possess a valid National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate or exemption certificate.

Interested candidates are expected to submit a formal application letter alongside a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV), copies of academic and professional certificates, a birth certificate or sworn declaration of age, and valid contact information.
Applicants are advised to ensure that all documents are complete and properly arranged before submission to avoid delays during the screening process.
The government said only qualified candidates who meet the stated requirements would proceed to the next stage of the recruitment exercise.
