The executive chairman of Kuje Area Council, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, Wednesday July 29, 2026 received celebrated para-powerlifting champion and Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026 medallist, Mr. Rilwan Idris Sabo, at the council secretariat in Kuje.
The reception was organised in honour of Mr. Sabo’s remarkable achievement at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, where he won the gold medal in para-powerlifting, bringing pride and honour, not only to Kuje area council but also to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nigeria as a whole.
Speaking during the reception, Hon. Shekwolo described the athlete’s victory as an extraordinary accomplishment that demonstrates the resilience, determination and exceptional talent of the people of Kuje.
He commended Mr. Sabo for his discipline, perseverance and unwavering commitment to excellence, noting that his success serves as an inspiration to young people across the area council.
A press statement issued by the divisional head, information and public relations of kuje area council, Nimrod Vinatnayi Koce, said the chairman reaffirmed the council’s commitment to supporting youth development and sporting excellence, stressing that outstanding individuals who distinguish themselves in various fields deserve recognition and encouragement.
Responding, Mr. Sabo expressed profound appreciation to the Chairman and the people of Kuje for the warm reception and continued support.

The reception was attended by members of the council’s executive, legislative arm, management staff, traditional leaders, youth representatives, sports enthusiasts and other well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the historic achievement of Kuje’s distinguished son.
