Campaign posters: Adamawa ADC candidate breaks silence on court ruling, promises issue based campaign
The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa state, Engr. Omar Sulaiman, has broke his silence in the recent court judgment issued against him over pasting of campaign posters on government building and other public infrastructure.
In a press statement made available to journalists in yola on Monday, and signed by his campaign Director General, Elder Mark Wosi, the ADC candidate reiterated his commitments to protecting public infrastructures and upholding the rule of law.
He said he neither authorised nor encouraged defacement of public infrastructure by his supporters.
He noted that his team has accepted the court verdict in good faith due to the respect they have for the judiciary and their commitments to the rule of and democratic accountability, noting that his campaign would run issue based campaign that would focus on providing solution to the challenges bedeviĺing the state and its people.
He also maintained that his aspiration for Dougerei Government House Yola in 2027, was borne of patrotic desire to build a state that would work for every citizen.
He his campaign would present practical solutions on job creation, industrialization,Education, Health,Agriculture, security,infrastructures, environmental protection among other sectors.
The ADC candidate further task the state Government to give attention to evacuation of large refused dumps, blocked drainage system ,indiscriminate waste disposal and poor sanitation which continued to posed public health concerns in the state capital and other parts of the state rather than campaign posters alone adding that, environmental protection should focus more on pressing challenges rather than distractions.
According to him, communities such as Jambutu, bye pass, Vunoklang and other parts of the state deserves modern waste management systems capable of transforming refuse into economic opportunities through recycling, waste to energy initiative, organic fertiliser production and circular economy investment.
He added that environmental renewal and modern waste management would form a major pillar of his administration if elected, stressing that he has been studying innovative environmental models including sustainability initiatives of the AUN, adding that he would build on such successful models to position Adamawa as a national leader in environmental sustainable and green enterprise through public- private partnership.
