The Bauchi 2027 Talakawa Movement has dismissed the position of the Tuggar Foundation regarding the emergence of Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar (SAN) as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Bauchi State.
Speaking with newsmen Wednesday, the Coordinator of the Movement, Alhaji Musa Idris Shehu, described the Foundation’s recent media briefing as “misplaced and disconnected from the current political realities in Bauchi State.”
He maintained that the APC had concluded a transparent consultative process involving critical stakeholders and that the party had moved forward with a candidate enjoying broad acceptance across the state.
Shehu argued that the Foundation’s account of the emergence of the APC candidate did not accurately reflect the process that produced Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar (SAN).
“The process that led to the emergence of the Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar SAN was clear, inclusive and widely accepted by party stakeholders. It is therefore surprising that a foundation whose primary mandate ought to be humanitarian service has chosen to immerse itself in partisan political debates,” he said.
He urged members of the Foundation to channel their energies toward developmental and charitable activities rather than engaging in political disagreements capable of creating unnecessary divisions within the party.
The Coordinator also suggested that the Foundation’s comments reflected dissatisfaction over the outcome of the party’s internal process.
According to him, “Instead of dwelling on issues that have already been settled, leaders and supporters of the APC should unite behind the party, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governorship candidate in the collective interest of Bauchi State. The focus now should be on strengthening the party and preparing for victory in 2027.”
He added that the Movement believed Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar represented the most credible option for the APC and urged all party members to close ranks ahead of the election.
Shehu further stated that MA Abubakar’s visit to the twenty local government areas since the party primaries, has triggered a growing grassroots support for him particularly among farmers, traders, market women, artisans, youths and other ordinary citizens.
“Today, MA Abubakar is the heartbeat of the Talakawa in Bauchi. His engagements across the state since the party primaries have inspired confidence among the people, and we are convinced that the APC will record an unprecedented turnout in 2027 because the masses have embraced MA Abubakar” he said.
He reaffirmed the Movement’s commitment to mobilising support for both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC governorship candidate, expressing confidence that the people of Bauchi State would rally behind the party at the polls.
