Barcelona have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of German forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund in a deal reportedly worth €29 million ($33 million), including performance-related add-ons.
The La Liga champions confirmed on Thursday that the 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2031.
The move makes Adeyemi Barcelona’s second major signing of the summer transfer window following the arrival of England international Anthony Gordon.
Known for his pace and versatility, Adeyemi is capable of playing as a centre-forward or on either wing, giving head coach Hansi Flick additional options in attack ahead of the new season.
The signing comes after Barcelona’s attacking department underwent significant changes. Veteran striker Robert Lewandowski has departed the club, while Marcus Rashford returned to Manchester United following the expiration of his loan spell, leaving the Spanish champions in need of reinforcements.

Adeyemi already has a strong connection with Flick, who handed the forward his senior Germany debut in 2021.
The attacker joined Borussia Dortmund from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg in 2022 and established himself as an important player during his four-year stay in Germany.
Across all competitions, he scored 36 goals in 146 appearances for Dortmund before sealing his move to Camp Nou.
Barcelona will now hope Adeyemi’s pace, creativity and versatility can help the club defend its La Liga title and compete strongly in both domestic and European competitions next season.
