The police have arrested a 23-year-old theft suspect, Emmanuel Etim, over accusations of conniving with other fleeing individuals to steal an industrial moulding block worth over N2 million in Akwa Ibom state.
The Command held that its operatives, after a report of the theft was reported at the station, nabbed Etim while he was attempting to sell the property, adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend.
The command’s Public Relations officer, Timfon John, said that the stolen item has been recovered while the arrestee has been held in custody for prosecution, and would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
John, in Uyo on Thursday, mentioned that the suspects stole the property at the Ikot Ekpene International Market, adding that Etim contravened the laws of the state by involving in the act.
In another case of unlawful act, the spokesperson also mentioned that one Nsidibe Benson, has been arrested for allegedly vandalizing a property belonging to the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic.
The police figure held that Benson, 46-years-old, was apprehended on July 19, adding that he also stole aluminium window frames, electric wires and cables .
A statement added that the Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, commended the vigilance and timely information provided by members of the public, which contributed significantly to the operational successes.
Azare reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting public infrastructure, safeguarding lives and property, and ensuring that criminal elements are identified, arrested and brought to justice.
The police commissioner further urged residents to remain security-conscious and continue to partner with the police by providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities within their communities.
