Man Arraigned in Ekiti Over Early Morning Shop Break-In Theft Case

A 27-year-old man, Akinsola Taofeek, was arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday over allegations of shop breaking and stealing.

Taofeek is facing a two-count charge in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred on June 10 at 5:00 a.m. in Ado-Ekiti.

Prosecutor ASP Yomi Osuolale told the court that the defendant broke into the shop and premises of one Oluwatoyin Ilorin, where he allegedly made away with a pumping machine, a washing machine coil, and an Ox fan coil, all valued at N170,000.

The offences were said to contravene Sections 324(2) and 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges. His counsel, Adeyinka Opaleke and Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant him bail, assuring that he would not jump bail.

Chief Magistrate Olubunmi Bamidele granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case to July 23 for hearing.
