The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara Command, has arrested 40-year-old man, AbdulRauf Ambali, for sexually assaulting his 14-year-old daughter.
The suspect was apprehended following credible information from concerned members of the public, leading to the arrest and case transfer to the NSCDC Command’s Gender Unit for investigation as disclosed by the NSCDC Kwara Commandant, Abbas Muhammed.
Muhammad in Ilorin on Thursday said that the case initially came to the attention of the Corps when the suspect himself reported that his daughter had been missing from home for three weeks.
Upon the report, police traced the minor, and during interrogation, the girl revealed she deliberately fled her father’s residence after enduring months of sexual abuse and intimidation.
Preliminary findings showed that the victim had lived with her grandmother since childhood before she was taken into her father’s custody in December 2025 under the pretext of parental care.
The commandant claimed that the alleged victim cited cases is was frequent threatening and beating by his father and intimidated her whenever she resisted his advances.
The girl continued until she could no longer endure it and left home but became pregnant in May as a result of the repeated sexual abuse, and the father took her to a private facility where the pregnancy was terminated.
“The victim also alleged that she was repeatedly warned not to disclose the incidents to anyone and was later advised to undergo family planning measures to prevent future pregnancies,” the commandant added.
Moreover, during the investigation, the suspect reportedly admitted to having unlawful sexual relations with the minor.
Concluding the press briefing, Commandant Muhammed condemned the act, describing it as “a heinous betrayal of parental responsibility and a grave violation of the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of a child.”
The commandant reiterated the Corps’ commitment to protecting members of society and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any criminal activities to security agencies.
