Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has identified England as his favourite team to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Fulham midfielder believes the Three Lions have the quality and squad depth needed to compete for football’s biggest prize.
England made a strong start to their campaign with an impressive victory over Croatia, boosting expectations around their title chances.
France also among Iwobi’s favourites
Iwobi highlighted the strength of several top nations competing at the tournament, including France.
The former Nigeria international praised France’s attacking options and admitted that their forward line makes them one of the most dangerous teams in the competition.
Spain have also made a strong impression after recording a big win over Saudi Arabia, while other contenders continue their search for World Cup success.
‘England have great chance’ — Iwobi
Speaking to Sky Sports, Iwobi said England’s depth gives them an advantage because even players coming from the bench can make a difference.
“I personally believe England have a great, great chance,” Iwobi said.
He added that the team has many talented players and also expressed his hope that England eventually lift the trophy.
