The Federal Government, through the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has sold four properties surrendered by drug kingpins through the courts for N6.1 billion to successful bidders across the country.
The four properties sold by the apex government were among the eight assets presented before bidders for purchase after being seized from drug traffickers as proceeds from their businesses within and outside the country’s shores.
While the Federal Government received above-offered prices for the four properties, the bids for the four others failed because none of the offers met the reserved prices for the assets.
Announcing the winning bids at the bid opening ceremony attended by representatives of ICPC, Civil Society Organisations, auctioneers and bidders at the NDLEA headquarters in Abuja on Monday, the Head of Asset Recovery and Management Unit of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Francis Ali-Bozi disclosed some of the property sold by the government.
One of the properties sold on Monday was The Hook hotel, an 80-room hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, used as a front for the distribution of illicit substances within the country and abroad, where 589 bags of Canadian Loud, a potent cannabis strain, weighing 417.3 kilograms and valued at over N1 billion, were recovered by the NDLEA over one year ago.
Ali-Bozi declared Tope Ojo and Tunde Olonishakin estate firm as the winner of a six-floor hotel, The Hook hotel, located in Victoria Island Lagos, with N5.9 billion offer.
Other winners include FSS Limited, which won a property at Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, for N219,500,000.00; A-BNB Global Innovations Limited, which emerged winner of a block of flats located in Ejigbo, Lagos, for N104 million, and Fazeen Global Link Limited, which won a property in Akure, Ondo state, for N29,360,000.00.
