The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, arguing that democratic governance should be measured by its impact on citizens rather than the number of years spent under civilian rule.
In a Democracy Day message addressed to Nigerians, the opposition party said many citizens are struggling with insecurity, rising living costs and declining confidence in public institutions despite more than two decades of democratic governance.
The statement was issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.
ADC Questions Impact of Democracy
Marking Democracy Day, the party challenged Nigerians to reflect on whether their quality of life has improved in recent years.
According to the ADC, the true test of democracy lies in citizens’ welfare, security and economic opportunities rather than political ceremonies or anniversaries.
