Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has achieved another milestone after becoming the African artist with the highest number of Billboard Hot 100 entries.
The Afrobeats star moved ahead of fellow Nigerian singer Tems after earning a new entry on the United States chart through his collaboration with Colombian superstar Shakira on the official World Cup song, “Dai Dai.”
The track debuted at No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100, taking Burna Boy’s total number of appearances on the chart to nine.
World Cup performance boosts song
Before the new entry, Burna Boy and Tems were tied with eight Billboard Hot 100 appearances each.
The song gained increased attention after Burna Boy and Shakira performed it during the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony.
The achievement further strengthens Burna Boy’s position as one of Africa’s most successful global music exports.
Six consecutive years on Billboard chart
Burna Boy has also become the first African artist to record at least one Billboard Hot 100 entry in six consecutive years.
His previous chart appearances include “Loved By You” (2021), “Last Last” (2022), “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” and “Talibans II” (2023), “Just Like Me” and “We Pray” (2024), “WGFT” (2025), as well as “Only You” and “Dai Dai” (2026).
The latest milestone adds to the singer’s growing list of international achievements.
