Residents of Ugbokolo in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State have reportedly rescued abducted victims and apprehended three suspected kidnappers during a community-led search operation along the Ugbokolo–Aokpe Road.
The incident reportedly followed the abduction of several residents on Tuesday along the busy route, which is commonly used by commuters within the area.
In response, local youths mobilised and launched a search operation aimed at tracking the abductors and securing the release of the victims.
The operation reportedly led to the rescue of the abducted persons and the arrest of three individuals suspected to be involved in the kidnapping.
Community sources claimed the suspects were of Fulani origin, although this could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.
The identities of the rescued victims and the arrested suspects have not yet been disclosed.
Authorities have also yet to issue an official statement on the incident, including details on the condition of the victims or the status of investigations.
