Jigawa: DIG Gumel joins 2027 House of Reps race, pledges inclusive representation

A retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, has formally declared interest to contest for the Gumel, Maigatari, Gagarawa, Sule Tankarkar Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the 2027 general elections.

Gumel, a veteran security expert and community policing advocate, said his decision followed overwhelming calls from community leaders, youth groups, and elders across the four local government areas in Jigawa state.

In his declaration, DIG Gumel said he would focus on youth development, health, education, women empowerment, special attention to people with special needs, security, infrastructure, and human capital advancement.

He pledged to leverage his international connections to attract federal projects in roads, education, healthcare, and agriculture, alongside empowerment programs for youth and women.

“My years in security have taught me that true peace comes when people have opportunities, dignity, and a voice,” Gumel said.   Gumel is Managing Director of Gabule Garke Farms and has built partnerships across ECOWAS, the UK, and the U.S. in agriculture and enterprise development.
