Pupil takes over as ‘Lagos governor’

The Lagos State Authorities on Monday welcomed Miss Etiyemonu Esther, winner of the twenty first Lagos Spelling Bee Competitors, to Lagos Home, Marina, the place she symbolically took over because the state’s One-Day Governor.

In a video circulated on X, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu formally handed over his seat to the coed, marking the spotlight of her one-day tenure.

Esther, a scholar of Lagos State Senior Mannequin School, Igbokuta, earned the honour after rising general winner of the spelling competitors held in December 2025.

Sharing particulars of the go to on his X account, the governor praised Esther’s excellent qualities, describing her as centered, assured and hardworking. He famous that she embodies the excellence and potential of Lagos youth.

“All of Lagos is rooting for you and your shiny future,” he stated whereas congratulating her on the achievement.

Esther was accompanied by the One-Day Deputy Governor, Miss Awoyemi Dorcas, and the One-Day Secretary to the State Authorities, Miss Salami Jumai Olaide, together with their mother and father.

Sanwo-Olu additionally recommended Oluremi Tinubu, who initiated the One-Day Governor programme, describing it as a long-lasting legacy that continues to encourage and groom younger leaders throughout the state.
