JUST IN: El-Rufai presents self to EFCC, supporters protest [VIDEO]

Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State, has honoured the invitation of the {Economic} and {Financial} Crimes Fee (EFCC) over alleged misappropriation of funds.

Our correspondent gathered that El-Rufai arrived on the headquarters of the EFCC in Abuja at about 10:35 a.m. on Monday, accompanied by a whole lot of supporters.

His arrival reportedly sparked pressure on the entrance of the anti-graft company, as safety operatives restricted members of his entourage from coming into the premises.

Supporters of former Kaduna State governor gathered on the junction resulting in the fee’s headquarters, chanting slogans and holding placards with inscriptions equivalent to “El-Rufai is a citizen, not a topic” and “We stand with El-Rufai. We stand for legislation.”

A video circulating on-line confirmed a few of the supporters alleging that the EFCC dispersed them with teargas, whereas claiming that anti-El-Rufai protesters had been allowed to assemble close by.

The opposing group carried banners studying, “El-Rufai can not cover behind politics, let the legislation catch up,” alongside smaller placards urging, “Reply the cost, El-Rufai.”

El-Rufai, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), had earlier travelled overseas on November 30, 2025.

Sources indicated that the EFCC delivered a a call for participation to his residence in December, fuelling hypothesis that he might face arrest upon his return.

The event comes days after an incident on the Nnamdi Azikiwe Worldwide Airport, the place the previous governor resisted what he described as an tried arrest.

Following the airport episode, the previous Kaduna governor publicly accused Nuhu Ribadu, the nationwide safety adviser, of being behind the transfer to detain him; an allegation that has additional heightened political tensions.
