FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, accused the governors of Kwara and Imo states, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Hope Uzodinma, respectively, of leading what he described as a political campaign against him.
Wike made the allegations in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while defending his political alliances ahead of the 2027 elections, saying he would not remain silent in the face of what he called sustained attacks despite the support he had offered the two governors.
The former Rivers State governor specifically accused AbdulRazaq of championing the campaign against him across political circles.
“Take for example, Kwara, he has been the one championing this campaign against me everywhere. Yes, I have confronted him too. I don’t talk about what I cannot defend,” Wike said.
The FCT minister alleged that AbdulRazaq accused him of supporting political candidates opposed to the governor’s preferred choices in Kwara State.
Wike rejected the allegation, insisting that the Kwara governor should instead acknowledge the political support he had received from him and other members of the All Progressives Congress.
He said he had provided a political platform for some aggrieved APC chieftains who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, rather than allowing them to join the opposition coalition against President Bola Tinubu.
Wike also turned his attention to Uzodinma, accusing the Imo governor of failing to reciprocate the support he claimed to have provided him.
“Governor Hope, he knows the support I give to him,” Wike said.
The minister recalled that Uzodinma had, at a point, declined to support him, despite the assistance he claimed to have offered the governor.
The fresh accusations come against the backdrop of intensifying political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike, who remains a member of the PDP, has continued to openly support President Tinubu’s bid for a second term, placing him at odds with sections of his party.
The former Rivers governor insisted that his political position had never been hidden.
“Any Nigerian who knows me know that I have never hidden my intention,” he said.
Wike challenged those accusing him of working against APC governors to explain what support they had offered him during his own political battles.
Despite the widening disagreements, the FCT minister said his political differences with AbdulRazaq and Uzodinma would not derail his support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
His latest outburst has further exposed the increasingly complicated political alliances ahead of 2027, with Wike maintaining his membership of the PDP while openly aligning with key figures in the governing APC.
