Police detains two vigilantes after assaulting siblings in Imo

The Imo State Police Command has arrested two personnel of the Imo State Vigilante Organisation following allegations that they assaulted a young woman and her brother in the Okigwe area of the state.

The suspects, identified as Ejiogu Nchekwube and Caleb Onyebuchi, are currently being detained at the Okigwe Divisional Police Headquarters, where investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Nchekwube and Onyebuchi were taken into police custody after a video surfaced on social media allegedly showing the two men assaulting the siblings, who were reportedly travelling to Abia State University.

The command’s spokesperson, Okoye Henry, confirmed the arrests on Tuesday and said investigations had commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Bosso, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to professionalism, accountability and respect for the rights of members of the public.

Bosso assured the public that anyone found culpable would face appropriate action in accordance with the law.

The command urged members of the public to remain calm and refrain from circulating unverified information, advising them to rely on official channels for verified updates.
