A Delta State High Court has ordered the remand of Delta-based content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre over the alleged rape and death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro.
His remand followed his arraignment by the police before the court in connection with the alleged offences involving the deceased.
The remand order was granted on Friday following an application brought before the court in connection with the case.
Ogbonna was arrested after a petition was submitted to the Delta State Police Command alleging that Agbro travelled to Asaba on June 1, 2026, following an invitation from the suspect.
The invitation was linked to a content creation training programme promoted through Ogbonna’s social media platforms.
According to the petition, the circumstances surrounding Agbro’s death prompted a police investigation, with the case generating public concern and calls for a thorough investigation into the events preceding her death.
Counsel to the deceased’s family, Awele Ideal, said the autopsy and toxicology test results had been made available to the police investigation team, marking the conclusion of the investigative phase of the case.
In a statement issued on Friday, Ideal said the results, alongside other evidence and facts gathered during the investigation, had been incorporated into the investigation report prepared for the prosecution and trial.
“Today, the 4/9/2026, the application to remand Ifeanyi Ogbonna (Odogwu Asaba) was heard and granted by the court,” the lawyer stated.
He added that Ogbonna had subsequently been remanded at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre and would be brought before the court as proceedings continue until the completion of the trial.
Ideal disclosed that he was representing Favour’s family on a pro bono basis and providing legal and financial support to ensure that all aspects of the case were properly pursued.
He pledged to continue updating the public on developments in the case, stressing that “Justice is everyone’s business.”
Reacting to the development, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Success, confirmed that the court had granted the remand application and that Ogbonna was being held at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre.
Ossai said the development followed the release of the autopsy and toxicology results to the police investigation team, with the findings now forming part of the evidence being relied upon in the prosecution of the case.
