Army Troops of the Operation ENDURING PEACE in Plateau State have rescued a 45-year-old woman, Ruth Dauda, from kidnappers following a swift response to a distress call over her abduction.
The soldiers moved in after a distress call about the woman’s abduction and quickly mobilised, intercepting the kidnappers and forcing them to retreat towards a high-ground location, which eventually allowed the troops to rescue the woman without harm
It was gathered on Friday that the kidnapping occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Ngorot Village, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State,
A military source said the troops made contact with the fleeing kidnappers, who were unable to withstand the soldiers’ firepower.
No casualties were recorded during the operation, while Dauda was subsequently reunited with her family.
According to the source, military forces have continued efforts to locate and arrest the suspects who escaped from the scene.
Also, troops have maintained heightened surveillance around the community to deter further criminal activity.
The rescue formed part of ongoing operations by the Nigerian Army to protect residents and disrupt criminal activities across Plateau State.
Meanwhile, in another operation, troops arrested two herders over alleged destruction of farm crops in Daga Village, Jos East Local Government Area, on Thursday.
The suspects, identified as 19-year-old Aliyu Adamu and 20-year-old Danjuma Adamu, were apprehended after soldiers deployed at Angware responded to a report at about 6:30 a.m.
The Army said the arrest was aimed at preventing the disagreement from escalating and supporting efforts to resolve the farmer-herder dispute peacefully.
Operation ENDURING PEACE has continued to combine security operations with non-kinetic measures, including dialogue, to address threats to lives and property across Plateau State.
