Army arrests bandits’ informant in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army has arrested an informant, Mathew Waziri, linked to bandits operations in Kaduna State, as troops intensify efforts to disrupt kidnapping networks in the area.

21-year-old Waziri was apprehended by the Army and is now held in custody after Army personnel acted on an intelligence indicating his alleged involvement in providing information to kidnappers

It was gathered on Friday that Waziri was arrested at Sabon Gida Village in Sanga Local Government Area at about 9:40 a.m. yesterday, a military source stating that the operation was based on intelligence supplied by the Department of State Services office in Gwantu with the information reportedly enabling troops to locate and apprehend the suspect.

The respondent also mentioned that the military is expected to analyse information obtained during the investigation to support further operations against kidnappers and their collaborators in the area.

The military also disclosed that the arrest is part of ongoing security efforts aimed at weakening criminal networks by targeting not only armed operatives but also individuals suspected of providing them with information and other forms of support.
