Truth Behind GehGeh’s Viral Wedding Finally Revealed

Popular Nigerian content creator and self-styled relationship coach, Emmanuel Obruste, popularly known as GehGeh, has revealed that the wedding videos that recently dominated social media were not from a real marriage but were created as part of a promotional campaign for a movie project.

Speaking about the controversy, GehGeh explained that the scenes were intentionally produced to spark conversations online and increase awareness for the project.

According to him, the strategy achieved its purpose by generating widespread discussions and attracting significant public attention.

“It was all content created to promote the movie I was working on. Every content creator understands that there are different ways to create conversations and make a project trend. The objective was to get people talking, and it worked,” he said.

Responding to critics who claimed the videos contradicted his long-standing views on relationships and marriage, GehGeh insisted that he has never advised people against marriage.

Instead, he maintained that his message has always been for men to make wise financial decisions before committing to relationships.

“Marriage itself is not the problem; you just have to be wise,” he added.

GehGeh also dismissed suggestions that he secretly got married, stressing that whenever he eventually decides to tie the knot, it will be a genuine ceremony that the public will know about.

He emphasized that the viral wedding clips were produced strictly for promotional purposes and had nothing to do with his personal relationship status.

The videos, which surfaced across social media in late July, showed GehGeh and a woman dressed in matching traditional wedding attire, participating in what appeared to be a wedding ceremony complete with dancing, cake-cutting, and reception moments.

The scenes led many social media users to believe the influencer had quietly married in Niger State.

The speculation gained momentum because GehGeh has built his online reputation around discussing relationships, marriage, and personal finance, with many followers interpreting some of his previous messages as criticism of marriage.

The viral campaign triggered mixed reactions online, with some fans congratulating him while others accused him of abandoning the principles he often promotes.

Reflecting on the attention generated by the campaign, GehGeh said the publicity ultimately benefited his career by increasing his visibility and opening the door to more interviews and media engagements.

He added that creating conversations remains one of the most effective strategies in digital content creation and believes the campaign successfully achieved its goal.
