Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has nominated eight commissioner-designates to fill key vacancies in the State Executive Council following the recent cabinet reshuffle in the closing months of his administration.
The appointments are expected to strengthen governance and accelerate the delivery of the administration’s outstanding mandates before the end of Governor Sule’s tenure.
The nominations were announced on Wednesday during plenary at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly in Lafia after the governor transmitted the names of the nominees to the legislature for confirmation.
Presenting the governor’s letter, Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, directed the Clerk of the House to notify the nominees to submit 30 copies of their curriculum vitae and appear for screening on Friday, August 7, 2026.
The commissioner nominees are Muhammad Habeeb Nagogo (Wamba), Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed (Lafia), Mohammed Baba Shehu (Keffi), Mohammed Iyimoga Oyigye (Obi), Adamu Rabecca Kpadji (Wamba), Nawani Aboki (Doma), Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim, FCNA (Nasarawa), and Ashefo Daniel Paul (Lafia).
The nominations came barely two weeks after the state government carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle affecting six commissioners.
Speaking after the State Executive Council meeting on July 22, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Shu’aibu Labaran (SAN), said the affected commissioners were asked to step aside as part of efforts to reposition the administration for improved performance during the final phase of Governor Sule’s tenure.
The reshuffle affected the Ministries of Works, Women Affairs, Information, Lands, Science and Technology, and Security and Other Sundry Matters.
Meanwhile, Governor Sule also approved the appointment of two additional Special Advisers to strengthen governance and improve service delivery in critical sectors.
According to a statement issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Muhammad Adamu from Keffi was appointed Special Adviser on Water Resources, while Hajiya Farida Umar from Lafia was named Special Adviser on Women Affairs.
The government said the date for the swearing-in of the newly appointed Special Advisers would be announced in due course.
The appointments, according to the government, are in furtherance of the administration’s commitment to repositioning governance and promoting sustainable development across the state.
