The police have apprehended a 20-year-old man identified as Pascal Ogbogu over accusations of killing his father and dumping the body in a room at a community in Anambra State.
The Police command has held Ogbogu in custody after his arrest which was aided by his family members and members of the vigilante team who made a distress call to the security agency, disclosing that the suspect attacked his father with a machete on the throat and dumped his in a room and fled, but was later arrested following a manhunt by the police.
The Spokesperson of the Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, held that the alleged incident which happened in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government of the area yesterday, led to the 56-year-old deceased been found in a pool of blood and the machete left on his throat in a deep wound, after which the body was evacuated to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Tochukwu on Wednesday, said that the matter was reported at the Eziowele Police Division, adding that the command, under the stewardship of the Commissioner of Police, Nnana Ama, has transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation and comprehensive review of what transpired before the death of the quinquagenarian.
Ama tasked officers of the command to establish relevant facts and commended the family of the suspect and casualty for their timely report, urging the community residents to assist law enforcement agencies in reporting crime incidents promptly in their contribution to curbing criminal activities in the area.
The CP assured that the police would continue to ensure that the protection of lives and properties in the area is paramount, adding that the police is is significantly making sure that the task is carried out effectively.
