The Plateau State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped victims and arrested two suspected kidnappers during a joint security operation in the state.
The operation also led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition, in what police described as a significant breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes.
According to a police situation report issued on Tuesday, the victims were rescued unharmed during the operation carried out by a joint team of security operatives in Plateau State.
Two suspects were arrested at the scene, while the recovered rifle and ammunition were taken into police custody as exhibits.
The police said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Jos, for a detailed investigation aimed at uncovering the circumstances surrounding the abduction and identifying other members of the suspected criminal syndicate.
Confirming the development, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, said efforts were ongoing to apprehend other suspects linked to the crime and ensure they are brought to justice.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to sustaining coordinated operations to combat kidnapping and other forms of violent crime across the country.
