Four residents of Kogi State abducted by suspected kidnappers have been rescued by a joint security team following a coordinated operation in the state.
The victims regained their freedom after security operatives intensified search-and-rescue efforts to dismantle criminal hideouts and secure their safe release.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Ani Iniedu, confirmed the rescue on Monday, saying the operation was carried out on Saturday during an extensive bush-combing exercise launched after reports of the abduction.
According to Iniedu, the kidnappers fled into the surrounding forest as security personnel closed in on their hideout, prompting an intensified manhunt to track them down.
He said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lokoja for further investigation.
The police spokesperson added that the rescued victims have been reunited with their families, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Iniedu reaffirmed the command’s commitment, in collaboration with other security agencies, to sustaining operations against kidnapping and other violent crimes across Kogi State.
