The presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, have met with the party’s national leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, amid the leadership crisis affecting the OK Movement.
The meeting comes as concerns continue to grow over divisions within the movement ahead of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The OK Movement, a coalition of the Kwankwassiyya Movement and the Obidient Movement, has recently been embroiled in a leadership dispute that has led to the emergence of rival factions.
The development has raised concerns among members of the movement and supporters of the Obi-Kwankwaso presidential ticket, with many calling for unity before the commencement of election campaigns.
Confirming the meeting in a post on his official Facebook page, Senator Dickson disclosed that he hosted Obi and Kwankwaso at his residence in Abuja.
According to the former Bayelsa State governor, discussions centred on the party’s current affairs and preparations for the forthcoming election campaigns.
“We discussed the positive state of affairs of our party and preparations for the forthcoming campaigns, which are expected to commence later this month,” Dickson stated.
He also urged party members, supporters and stakeholders to remain united despite the internal challenges.
“I call on all members, supporters and stakeholders of our great party to unite, remain steadfast and work together for victory for all candidates of our party,” he added.
The meeting is expected to reassure party supporters as efforts continue to resolve the internal disagreements within the OK Movement before campaign activities gather momentum.
