Nollywood Stars, Family Gather for Late Ogogo’s Eighth-Day Prayer

Nollywood actors, relatives and friends of late veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, gathered in Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday for an eighth-day Fidau prayer held in his honour.

The gathering took place at the Stadium in Ilaro, where members of the actor’s family and colleagues joined the Islamic prayer marking eight days since his death.

Videos shared on Instagram by #EmiraltyAfrica showed guests arriving at the venue for the ceremony.

Among the Nollywood personalities present were veteran actors Yinka Quadri and Jide Kosoko, alongside actress Faithia Balogun and other members of the film industry.

Ogogo’s daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, were also seen at the gathering.

The eighth-day Fidau had earlier been announced by the family through Jide Kosoko, who shared details of the ceremony on his Instagram page.

Ogogo’s final rites

Ogogo died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66.

His death was followed by a burial in his hometown of Ilaro on August 24, in accordance with Islamic rites.

The Fidau prayer forms part of the post-burial religious observances held by the family following the actor’s death.

Ogogo was a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry, where he built a career spanning several decades as an actor and filmmaker.
