The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion at Anthony Village Bus Stop to facilitate the reconstruction of a section of the road damaged by persistent heavy rainfall.
The project is aimed at providing a lasting solution to the affected section of the road, which has been repeatedly damaged by heavy rainfall, through the reconstruction of the stretch with interlocking stones to improve its durability.
The announcement was made on Monday by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation in a statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Bolanle Ogunlola.
According to the ministry, excavation works are already ongoing at the project site as part of efforts to restore the affected section and improve the road infrastructure.
To ensure the smooth execution of the project, the government has introduced temporary traffic diversions for motorists using the Anthony Village corridor.
Motorists travelling from Fadeyi and intending to access the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway through Anthony Village will not be able to use the route during the construction period.
Those intending to use the Anthony Village Bus Stop service lane to connect Oshodi have been advised to remain on the expressway and connect through the available road ahead.
The ministry also stated that motorists travelling from Oshodi and intending to access Anthony–Ikorodu Road through Anthony Village should note that there is no through road at the project location.
Motorists were advised to plan their journeys ahead, avoid the Anthony Village Bus Stop and the affected service lane where possible, and use alternative routes to minimise delays.
The government appealed for the understanding and cooperation of road users throughout the duration of the project, assuring them that the intervention is aimed at delivering a more durable road network.
