Bandits kill three residents, abduct 10 others in Zamfara

At least three people have been killed after suspected bandits attacked Taketsaba village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State at midnight, abducting 10 residents before fleeing the community.

The attackers reportedly stormed the village while residents were asleep and whisked away 10 people, including women and babies, to an unknown destination.

A security source who disclosed the incident on Tuesday said the armed men opened fire shortly after arriving in the community, resulting in the deaths of three residents.

The source said the attackers operated without any apparent resistance from security personnel, describing the situation as worrying, particularly as residents of the community remain vulnerable to repeated attacks by armed groups.

The source said residents were now appealing to the state government to strengthen security measures in the area and protect the village and neighbouring communities from further attacks.

As of the time of filing this report, the Zamfara State Police Command had yet to issue a statement on the latest attack.
